The panic grabbed the residents of the village of Zagami in the area of ββthe local government of Danko/Wasagu in the state of Kebbi on Sunday, as suspicious members of the notorious Lakurawa band have stormed a church, kidnapping several faithful during a service.
The attackers, who are said to have come by motorbike, invaded the church while the morning cult was in progress, shooting sporadically to cause confusion before sweeping away a non -disclosed number of congratulations in a nearby forest.
An eye witness, Mr. Ezekiel Danjuma, who escaped an attack, told the heartbreaking experience to the fist.
βIt was terrifying.
They came to shoot and made their way into the church. Some of us managed to escape through the back, but brought many people with them, “he said.
Zagami, a quiet agricultural community in the senatorial district of the southern Kebbi, was thrown in mourning following the accident.
The District, which includes seven areas of the local government – Danko/Wasagu, Fakai, Ngaski, Sakaba, Shangha, Yauri and Zuru – has witnessed growing security problems in recent times.
At the time of the presentation of this report, Kebbi State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement on the attack. The efforts to reach the police authorities for the comments proved to be abortion.
In the meantime, the residents have invited the state government and the security agencies to act quickly in saving the kidnapped worshipers and strengthening the safety between the vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks.
