Benue State: troops of the operation JTF Whirl Stroke Destroy Banditi fields, recover assorted weapons
The troops of Katsina-Ala (Core Reporter) of the joint operation of the Task Force (JTF) Whirl Stroke (Ots), in its continuous efforts to dismantle all the criminal elements in its operation area, have maintained assaults against the bandits and associated crimes to guarantee a successful agricultural season in Benue’s state. In a recent RAID operation conducted on May 18, 2025, the troops of 72 special forces battalion of OPW that work in close synergy with other safety agencies captured and destroyed identified bandits of bandits linked to a leader of bandits in Konyo Gbise around Akwaza in Katsina-Ala LGA.
The decisive operation conducted in Benue’s state led to the capture of assorted weapons including a sub-macchina pistol (SMG) with a charger, a rifle built locally with a charger and special ammunition of 7.62 mm. Other captured objects are, a rifle kick, rifle rod, 9milimeter ammunition, 3 POS machines, 2 generation sets, a cell phone, electric cables, a painting machine, 7 solar panels, half a bag of suspected sativa substance of cannabis (Indian edge) and several portraits of band leaders.
Meanwhile, the commander JTF Etws the major General Moses Race has accused the troops of supporting the pressure on all the criminal elements that threaten peace and security in the state. He also invited Benue’s good people to continue supporting military operations by providing credible information on criminal activities in their domain to security agencies.
