The police saved the kidnapped driver, a passenger in Katsina

Police operations in Katsina have saved five people who were kidnapped by alleged bandits in the Fascari Regional Government in the state.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Abubakar Aliyu, told reporters on Tuesday in Katsina that the victims were kidnapped from a vehicle in Unguwar-Basau along the Funtua-Gusau road on Monday.

He said: “On May 19, 2025, around 9:37 at night, a tribute call was received at the Faskari Division Police Headquarters that some people suspected of being armed bandits had attacked passengers in two vehicles in Unguwar-Basau in Funtua-Gusau Road.

“The vehicle that was attacked was a hummer bus with a registration number: T0510 KN and a white Mendez truck, LFA 508 years old.

“After receiving the report, the armored patrol team (APC) immediately responded to the scene and involved the bandits in weapons battles, where the attackers were controlled because of superior tactics and firing.

“The five kidnapped victims, including two drivers and three passengers, were saved.”

He, however, said that four victims suffered injuries and were immediately rushed to the Sheme Primary Health Center (PHC) for immediate medical attention.
