D’Tigress in the Abuja tournament return home with Togo, others

The Nigerian National Women’s Team, D’Adue and Nigeria Basketball Federation are preparing for what will be one of the best basketball events held in Nigeria.

For the first time, the award -winning tiger will play on the national ground after winning five consecutive Afrobasket championships led by the Nigerian coach of the Wnba Rena Wakama. The African champions will take the togo of a high level and a team still to be appointed to Abuja from 18 to 20 July 2025.

The current team is huge and seen as a Nigerian women’s team with bumper packages with WNBA players ⁠6 while the team is preparing to defend the title again.

As part of the tournament in Nigeria, the players will help manage women’s empowerment programs in this appointment for the home, even if they keep ball fields for balls for the emerging stars of Abuja.

The event will be hosted at the prestigious Mo Arena Abuja. The games and activities will be live on the satellite station of the Africa number, Supersport.

Mathew Ohio, CEO of El Carnival, was exciting when he spoke of this stellar event.

The Ohio said: “After organizing a welcome party for D’Tigre in Paris at the Olympic Games, we considered it necessary to promote and show the incredible talents of these wonderful women in Nigeria. We are excited to be part of the best team in Africa.”

The president of the Nbbf of the sponsorship committee, Ugo Udezue, said that it has always been the desire of the president of the Federation, Musa Kida, and the Board of Directors to create a fun atmosphere for Nigerian fans to meet and greet the players.

This will be an exciting and fun atmosphere with the possibility that fans meet and interact for the first time. D’Tigress International Tournament brings to the public that the domain of Nigeria in women’s basketball is a testimony of the strength, resilience and excellence of the athletes of the country.

Over the years, D’Tigress have constantly shown themselves as the best team in Africa, winning four consecutive Afrobasket titles (2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023) and making history at the Paris Olympics in 2024 becoming the first African team to reach the quarter -finals, defeating high -level teams such as Canada and Australia. These results highlight the success of the team and also act as a source of inspiration and responsibility for women in sports throughout Nigeria and beyond.

This tournament is designed as a key preparation event for D’Ap Tigress in view of the Fiba 2025 female Frobasket, which will be held in Abidjan, in Ivory Coast, from 24 July to 3 August 2025. The tournament offers an opportunity for a high -level competition that will improve the promptness of the teams.
