Sporting Lagos coach Jeffrey Buter has been fined N500,000 by the Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL, for comments made following his team’s local derby against Ikorodu City.
Buter was penalized after admitting he made a mistake in his post-match interview, where he made comments about the officiating during the match.
When making its decision, the NPFL also took into account the young coach’s limited experience in the league.

The Sporting Lagos strategist has seven working days to pay the N500,000 fine, failing which he could face further sanctions.
The NPFL also warned coaches and club officials against making reckless or inflammatory statements, urging them to channel complaints through the appropriate official procedures.
