The Ebonyi health insurance agency enrolls 137,133 in 2 years

Thursday Ebonyi Health Insurance Agency (Ebshia) revealed its results within the two years of the administration of the governor Francis Nwifuru.

The executive secretary of the state agency, dr. Divine Igwenagu, said that the agency recorded a total of 137, 133 people in the health insurance regime in the period in the revision phase.

Dr. Igwe revealed it in a press conference in Abakaliki, the state capital.

He said: “From 2023 to date, Ebshia has recorded a total of 137, 133 people in the health insurance regime.

“The number of children under the age of 5 recorded are 42,088, women in pregnancy 20, 785 and 15,644 elderly people were enrolled. Conferences 41,783, formal sector (Onwa Healthcare) 2.214, Tiship -5.347, the enrollment active in 2024 is 8061.”

However, he observed that people who enrolled in the insurance regime have been able to access free medical care.

He said that the agency was making enormous progress in health.

According to him, through the health insurance agency, the state governor was able to reduce the catastrophic medical expenses that issues from diseases in all 13 areas of the local government of the State.

He invited the owners of political offices in the state to meet and adopt at least 1,000 screws per department in the state to be included in the state health insurance agency to reduce maternal mortality, childhood deaths and stop devastating blood pressure (BP) on the rise on a daily basis.

Represented by the state commissioner for health, dr. Moses Ekuma, the Governor Nwifuru, said that through Ebshia, his administration has reached a lot in the health sector.

“Ebshia has obtained a passage of passage within 2 years from the office hoping that when it reached four years, it would have covered the ground.

“In reality in the health sector when we hired an office that many things were missing because we cannot speak of a functional health system without labor, medical equipment, drugs, health insurance coverage and without emergency services those things are the key issues of health, but within 2 years our government has achieved it through the Ebonyi health insurance agency”.

One of the beneficiaries of Ebshia, Ohaukwu’s blessing said: “This is my sixth son, in October 2024, the doctors said that I would give my baby through operation and there was no money for this, but through this insurance agency I was managed and my baby came out healthy”.
