The Nigerian army has confirmed the murder of a famous terrorist commander, Amir Abu Fatima, during a special military operation in the Kukawa Axis, the northern Bornry state.
The Army confirmed the terrorist murder in a statement posted on its official X grip on Friday.
The operation, which was carried out in the early morning, was executed by a special forces consisting of 19 brigades under sector 3 of the Hadin Kai operation, which targeted rebel hiding places in the Lake Chad region.
A military source also told reporters that the operation was “a strike of the beheading of the head of precision,” which aims to kill Abu Fatima, who has been on the list of the most sought after security agents because of his role in several high profile attacks on Lake Chad Basin.
The source added that the elite troops infiltrated the terrorist pockets and involved fighters in fierce firing.
“Abu Fatima was seriously injured and was caught alive but then died of excessive bleeding due to a gunshot wound,” he added.
The source said the second commander of Abu Fatima, several bomb makers, and foot soldiers, was also killed during the operation.
Items that are restored from terrorists include several AK-47 rifles, magazines loaded, components for improvisation explosive devices (EED), and other military class weapons.
