The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday approached two Chinese citizens for alleged illegal mining at the Federal High Court, Lagos.
Foreigners-Zhang Hong Lin and Gao Pei Hai-Didikan on charges of five counts of ownership and exports of mineral resources that violate the law.
They, however, claimed to be “innocent” for violations.
EFCC arrested the two defendants along with six Nigerians in the Ogere region in the state of Ogun on May 9.

Following their request, legal counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, asked the court to choose the date of trial and return the defendants to the Correctional Center in the state.
However, legal counsel, Jeremiah Okoro, asked the court to return his client in EFCC detention while waiting for the guarantee application session.
Judge Chukwekekwu Aneke returned the defendants at the Correctional Center and postponed the problem until July 4 for the start of the trial.
