Tinubu confer national honors to some federal legislators

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Will, Thursday 12 June 2025, will confer national honors on a selected group of federal legislators during a special joint session of the National Assembly.

The commemorative event, organized by the leadership of both the Senate and the Chamber of Representatives, will be held at the Chamber of the House of Representatives inside the Complex of the National Assembly, Abuja.

The procedures should start at 11:00, with President Tinubu who should arrive at 12:00 to deliver a presidential speech as a special guest of honor.

President of the Media and Public Affairs Committee of the Chamber, Hon. Akin Rotimi, confirmed the development in a Sunday declaration.

“The leadership and the honorable members of the House of Representatives will participate in a special joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday 12 June 2025, to commemorate the celebration of this year’s democracy day,” said Rotimi.

He observed that the details of the session were formally communicated to the legislators through an internal memorandum signed by the employee of the house, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, Esq.

“26 years of democracy: renewing our commitment for national development”, the event will highlight the contributions of the National Assembly to the democratic evolution of Nigeria and institutional growth.

According to Rotimi, “the program will also present messages of goodwill of the former chair officers of the National Assembly and the conferral of national honors on the legislators selected by Mr. President”.

He described the joint session as “a significant moment in the democratic journey of Nigeria”, which “underlines the fundamental role of the national assembly in the safeguarding of democratic values, promoting responsibility and advancing national development in the last 26 years of uninterrupted civil domination”.
