The terrorists attacked the city of Buratai, not the former puppet, Ndume Chiarisce-Thage

The senator who represents Borno South, Ali Ndume, refuted the relationships by claiming that the former head of the army staff, the lieutenant general Tukur Buratai (Retd.), He escaped an ambush from the insurgents of Boko Haram in the state of Borno.

Reacting to Tuesday reports, Ndume described the narration as a false declaration of his comments during an interview on today’s politics, a canal television program aired on Sunday.

In a declaration signed personally, the former chief Whip of the Senate clarified that it was the city of Buratai – not the former head of the army – which was attacked by the insurgents.

“It was the city of Buratai in the state of Borno who was attacked, not the person of the former head of the army staff,” said Ndume.

He invited journalists to pay attention to their reportage, underlining the importance of accuracy, especially when it comes to politically exposed people and sensitive security problems.

“Even two days ago, Buratai (city) was attacked in front of the operational base in Borno. The soldiers were on the ground, but the attackers have still managed to destroy some goods.

“In these days, resources are burning as vehicles protected by resistant losses to mine (Mraps), tanks and machine guns for heavy uses. Sometimes, they even steal the equipment,” he explained.

Ndume raised concerns about deterioration of the security situation in the region and throughout the country.

“The situation is becoming terrible in Borno. It is bad in all the geo-political areas except the South-West. Even in South-South, we are fighting economic sabotage as a theft of oil. The South-West remains the only relatively safe region,” he added.

Expressing a surprise for the confusion, he said: “I am surprised that the name Buratai can be misunderstood as referred to General Buratatai, who, incidentally, comes from the city”.
