During his speech in his state in the National Assembly on Thursday, the President of the Tinubu Bola said he took “pleasure in witnessing” chaos in the opposition parties and explained that he had no “intention to help them organize.”
Speaking to members of parliament in a joint session in Abuja, marking the day of democracy, Tinubu rejected the suggestion that the decision of all the progressive Congress (APC) marginalized the opposition to open the way for the country of one party.
“Political parties who are afraid of members who leave may be better served by checking their internal processes and affairs rather than fearing juggling demons that do not exist,” he said. “For me, I will say try the best to manage your home. I will not help you do it. Indeed, happy to watch you in such chaos.”
In a nod to buy a high profile recently to the APC, following its own change a few years ago, Tinubu welcomed new members from Delta countries and Akwa IBOM-including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Father Umo Eno-and rejected the concerns of monopolistic governance.

“The state of one party will not happen soon. That’s what is said, we will be guilty of political malpractice if we close the door to other parties who are now trying to join APC and I sincerely welcome the latest members of our party and other priests.
He further vowed to maintain a balanced democratic climate, by saying, “We must welcome and accept the diversity and number of political parties as we welcome and embrace the diversity of our population. Our efforts have never been to eliminate political competition but to make the competition give results for national welfare by working throughout the political alley whenever possible.”
Highlighting national reconciliation, the President announced that he would give a national award to several prominent Nigerians. This list includes the late Kudirat Abiola, the recipient of Nobel Wole Soyinka, Shehu Musa Yar’adua, and Ken Saro-Wiwa.
“For these national heroes, I will also use my strength under the prerogative of compassion to give … full forgiveness, along with other people whose names will be announced then together with the National State Council,” he said.
