The troops arrested eight kidnapping suspects, saving two victims in the Kwara operation

In a decisive operation on Saturday, troops from 22 armored brigades, placed at the front operation base in Patigi, the state of Kwara, succeeded in arresting eight suspected kidnappers and saved two victims.

The military also found two motorbikes and two cartridges issued from the suspects, which are believed to be members of the abduction syndicate active in the area.

According to a statement released on Sunday by Lieutenant Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director of Public Relations for the Army for 22 Brigade, operations were initiated based on credible intelligence received by the military.

“Acting based on credible intelligence, the troops launched tactical operations on Saturday, June 21, 2025, targeting hiding places on the outskirts of Latandaji Village, Patii Regional Government,” the statement detailed.

Lieutenant Nwankwo further reported that the suspects tried a brief resistance but were quickly overcome by the superior shot of the troops. “During the engagement, the troops experienced light resistance but quickly subdued the criminals with superior firing power,” he said.

The success of the operation produced significant results: “The operation caused the rescue of two kidnapping victims, identified as Mr. Amos Moses and Mr. Philip Michael, and the arrest of eight people suspected of kidnapping,” Lieuted Nwankwo confirmed.

He also revealed that one individual, identified as Mr. Mohammed Mohammed, suffered a gunshot wound during confrontation and “had been evacuated to the Bachita Education Hospital for treatment.”

After the engagement, further reconnaissance of the area produces more evidence. “Further exploitation of the area caused the recovery of two motorbikes and two cartridge shells issued, which are believed to be used by the suspects,” added Lieutenant Nawankwo.

He concluded by declaring the current status of people from the arrested people: “All those arrested are currently in military custody for initial investigations and will be handed over to relevant authorities for prosecution.”

The military has convinced residents about their unwavering commitment to clean up the fields of criminal elements and restore lasting peace and security.
