By Victor Osula, Abuja

The faction led by Giulio Abure of the Labor Party emitted a 48 -hour ultimatum to Peter Obi to resign from his belonging to the party for presumably combined with the new coalition party.

Obi, the presidential candidate of 2023 of the Labor Party, Wednesday, joined other members of the national coalition of the political opposition movement in Nigeria, to formally reveal the African democratic congress (ADC) as a platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the general elections of 2027.

The former governor of Anambra recognized that the decision to adopt the ADC as a platform for the general elections of 2027 was a difficult step but necessary for the political future of Nigeria.

Noting that the move followed a profound reflection on the current challenges of the nation and on the urgent need for transformative leadership, Obi said: “This decision was not taken lightly. It comes from a profound reflection on where we are like a country and what must be done to go on. Our commitment is to sacrifice the sacrifice of the nation, for well -being, our beneficiary, “

Obi, who proposed to serve a single mandate in office, stressed that no single group could cause the change of wide change of Nigeria, saying: “To dismantle the structures that keep our people in poverty and insecurity, we must build bridges, not walls, even when those bridges are restless”.

However, Obiora Ifoh, secretary of the national advertising of the LP faction, in a declaration on Thursday, described the members of the coalition as Mongers, whose only interest is self and not the people.

Reiterating that the Labor Party “is not available for people with a double agenda, people with a deceptive person”, the faction warned the Nigerians that the “new Nigeria is often possible” is possible and cannot be achieved with the assembly of old, recycled, desperate and frustrated politicians in the coalition.

The faction said that the members of the coalition were those who had managed Nigeria badly over the years

“We are aware of several night meetings between Peter Obi and some of our members, pressing them to join him in his new party. We are also aware that some of them have refused to defect with him.

“The Labor Party has constantly affirmed that it is not part of the coalition and, therefore, none of our members who are part of the coalition is given within 48 hours to formally resign its belonging to the party.

“The Labor Party is not available for people with a double agenda, people with a deceptive person. The party does not make use of people who have one leg in one part and another leg elsewhere. People who claim to be at the Labor party in the morning and are in coalition in the evening.

“Almost 70 percent of the Nigerian population are young, tired of the old order, tired of the gerontocrats who decide their destiny. The new Nigeria that young people dream is not what can be realized by what we are seeing in the coalition.

“The new Nigeria of our dreams can only be realized through the Labor Party and the party is willing to conduct the Nigerians along that trajectory.

“Therefore, urges all party members to remain loyal and keep the party structure intact before the future elections.”
