Nina Aouilk was only 21 years old when she was left dead, lies in a pool of blood, after her father tried to kill her in an alleged “murder of honor”.
Mrs. Aouilk, born in the United Kingdom but has the legacy of Punjabi, told Mailonline how, from six years old, she was treated as a “slave” in her own house and forced to serve her relatives.
He says that this was because in his culture the girls were not “necessary or desired” and he was told to stay in the kitchen.
Although his torment started in early childhood, he became significantly worse at the age of 14 when he claims to have been brutally raped by his father and friends.
‘My father was the first to instigate him. They treated me as if I were used without. I was just a girl, “he remembered.
‘When I resisted, he broke my nose. The others were very violent. They literally left me dead that evening. “
Mrs. Aouilk says that after the alleged rape his father told her that she could no longer have an organized wedding because she was not a virgin and had “ruined herself”.

The horrible attack followed years of abuse, including brutal rape, being linked for days and having a face forced in her own urine. Mrs. Aouilk told Mailonline how, from the age of six, she had been treated as a “slave” to her home and forced to serve her relatives.
‘They robbed me of that little innocent childhood I had. I’ve never been the same person after that day.
He says that following the assault, his father organized to sell it to one of the alleged rapists as a “slave of sex”, under the remains of marrying his son.
“At the age of 16, they had mistaken me with one of the men who raped me that day,” he said. ‘It was a forced childhood marriage.
“The money was exchanged, together with gold and other expensive objects, in exchange for keeping the secret and making sure the community did not find out.”
After the “Sham wedding”, Mrs. Aouilk moved with her new husband and parents.
During the four years in which he lived there, he says he was subjected to unimaginable cruelty, including being stripped naked and having a nose rubbed in his urine.
‘I certainly lived in fear because my father -in -law raped me practically every morning and abused me sexually during the day.
‘Sometimes, he would have abused me while people passed in front of my room – there was no door. My room was under the stairs, near the kitchen. People in the house knew what was going on, but nobody did anything to stop him. “

Nina said in her culture, the girls were not “necessary or desired” and she was told to stay in the kitchen.
‘He would have stripped me naked, he bound me for the ankle with a metal hanger and left me so all day.
‘The whole family would come out. And if I protruded me – which I often did – he rubbed my nose in the urine and said things like “you are a dog”, and “this is the reason why I can’t take you anywhere; you are embarrassing”.
At 21, Mrs. Aouilk decided to leave her husband and return to her family after a friend said that things had changed and that her parents would support her.
But unfortunately, this could not have been further from the truth.
‘When I went home, my father and brother were waiting for me. Someone had seen me get on the bus, “he said.
‘They had already agreed on the fact that they would kill me, because I had been ashamed of the family.
‘In our culture, if a girl leaves an organized marriage, people talk about parents in a derogatory way.
‘It makes them feel as if they had lost respect in the community. So, to restore this respect, they draw blood. “

Mrs. Aouilk says that her father dragged her inside, calling her a “prostitute” while the rest of the family looked at.
‘He pulled my arm back and broke it, then they broke my jaw. They continued to beat me until I fell.
‘Then my father put the heel on my throat and dug it. At that point, I felt like I left my body. I was just lying there like a small rag doll. It was an attempt to kill honor. “
“They only stopped when the other brother entered and said:” Don’t do it here. We will take her to India. “Then everyone went away. I saw their feet go out. I was inside and outside the conscience for days.
I was literally lying in a bathroom of my own blood. I looked like something outside a horror movie. I couldn’t move.
Realizing that his family had planned to bring her to India to finish the job, Mrs. Aouilk knew she had to escape. ‘When everything is broken in your body, it is your mind that can save you. And that’s what saved me. “
‘My dog arrived around the corner. I put my hand on the wet nose and whispered: “Please don’t bark. I have to run away. Please don’t.” And he didn’t do it.
He managed to reach a park close before passing out. At dawn the next day, he woke up and stumbled upon a taxi rank, where he was taken to the police station.
Initially, the officer seemed inclusive – until he said the words “honor”.
He then stopped taking notes and called an ambulance, he says.
“I think he thought it would be too difficult to demonstrate,” said Aouilk.
After being treated in the hospital, she was brought to a women’s hostel in Kettering.
During the following three years, he slowly reconstructed his life. At the age of 23, he had launched a business of successful printing machinery, he became a millionaire and had his first of three children.
Behind success, however, he had fallen into another violent relationship – one in which he says that his pillow was set on fire as he slept.
Fortunately, he was able to escape from that situation and never looked back.
In 2023, Nina Aouilk founded End Honor charity killings, who works with the police to help victims to escape forced marriages and violence based on honor.
He says that violence based in Honour is still happening in the United Kingdom, with about 12 murders of honor every year.
‘We receive messages every day from girls who say they need help. They have returned home from school and their parents are trying to force them to marriage. Or they are sexually abused by a family member, but cannot talk about it.
‘We have to educate the boys. We must teach them not to carry on what has been taught by their families on girls who have no value. “
Nina was talking in view of the National Day of Remembrance for Honor Killings & New Domestic Abuse Act, which falls on July 14th.
