Men anchored because of the alleged theft of 7 cows worth N5.6M

The police on Thursday charged a 47 -year -old man, Adamu Mohammed, in the Magistrates Ikeja Court in Lagos for the alleged theft of seven cows worth N5.6 million.

The police accused the defendant with fraud and theft.

The prosecution advisor, Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendant and other suspects on September 9, 2022, conspired and stole seven cows worth N5.6 million in the EPE region of the state of Lagos.

Ikhayere, who said the cow belonged to Mr. and Mrs. Ibrahim Chede, accused that the defendant sold the cow but failed to send money to the couple.

He said the violation could be punished based on section 287 and 411 of the 2015 Lagos State Criminal Law.

However, the defendant claimed to be innocent for the accusation.

Judge, Mr. Lateef Owolabi, gave a guarantee to the defendant in the number of N500,000 with two guarantees in the same amount.

Owolabi ordered that one guarantee must become a civil servant.

He postponed this case until August 12 for hearing.
