‘Nigeria does not need more states, but southeast deserves to get it’-Gov Otti

The Governor of the State of Abia, Dr. Alex Otti, said Nigeria did not require additional countries because people who already existed lacking viability for economic independence.

Otti, who revealed this at the constitutional review meeting for IMO and Abia countries in Outrri on Friday, kicked against the creation of additional countries in that country but however, noted that Southeast deserves additional countries to meet with other geopolitical zones which have six and seven states each Southeast only have five.

Otti reasoned that additional countries must be made in the southeast zone to be equivalent to other zones.

In a statement issued in his name by advisor, especially about the media and publicity, Ferdinand Ebeoma, Otti explained that the creation of additional countries when the structures that could defend the existing countries had not been laid and therefore, could have a negative impact on the state government.

“The attention of the Governor of the State of Abia, Dr. Alex Otti, has been interested in a naughty position and a wide diversion that was widely circulated in the media, giving a false impression that the Governor of Otti opposed” the creation of additional countries in the southeast, “the statement said as a reaction to criticism that followed his statement at the meeting.

“The position of the Governor of Otti for many years about the creation of additional countries in Nigeria has not changed and will not change. The position is that these countries do not require additional countries, especially when most existing states do not have a feasibility for economic self-awkwardness.

“In Mani works for many years, he has recommended the structure of six regional for the country, which will support advocacy to reduce governance costs.

“However, the Governor of Otti argues that because at this time a geopolitical zone in the north has as many as 7 states, while others have six, except southeast, which have 5, there may be additional countries for South East to balance the dysquilibrium, but not the creation of new countries in six geopolitical zones.

“It is important to state that the Governor of Otti is not a man who is easily swayed to the wrong side of the pendulum when a critical problem that requires a deep thought driven by Altruism is on the table.

“Mi Okparas and Sam Mbakwes in this world do not wait for the creation of small pockets called the state before making the impact of the generation they made in their zone as holders of public offices.

“They ruled a region and state, each, which is very large both in land and population, but has not yet reached development and created prosperity that is still referred to this day.

“Creating additional countries in Nigeria when the super-economic structure that must support the existing but problematic has not been placed, similar to deliberately laying the foundation for further division and dichotomy that can negatively influence the government of our bodies, especially when we must be burdened with the responsibility to navigate through our economic challenges as a nation.”
