EFCC captured four Nigeria, 7 China for illegal mining in Akwa Ibom

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has arrested 11 people, including seven Chinese citizens, due to alleged illegal mining in the state of Akwa Ibom.

The Head of EFCC Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said the suspects were arrested on July 24 when operating two illegal mining locations without licenses needed in the Emem Community in the East Obolo Regional Government in the state.

The spokesman registered Chinese citizens as Chaobao (32), Zhong Dun Yi (33), Cheng Jiang (35), Zhong Dun Long (37), Pan Peiming (33), Lai Yiping (37), and Zhu Lekun (35).

The Nigerians arrested in the operation were – David Israel (18), Jonah Bartholomew Jim (24), Samuel Samuel Timothy (20), and Comfort Gabriel Ajaga (23).

Ajaga, the only woman among the suspects, served as a translator for the team.
