Nnadozie enjoyed the Ballon d’Or nomination, saying his family was ‘happy’

Super Falcons Shot-Stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie described his nomination for the Yachine 2025 trophy as a recognition of his hard work and consistency.

Nnadozie is one of the five goalkeepers chosen for prestigious honor, along with Cata Coll from Spain, Ann-Katrin Berger from Germany, Hannah Hampton from England, and Daphne Van Domselaar from the Netherlands.

Inclusion makes him the first African goalkeeper ever nominated for awards.

The 24 -year -old said the recognition was a source of pride for him and his family, adding that it had to function as a motivation for other African goalkeepers to target excellence.

“This nomination is very meaningful to me. This is fun for me and my family. This shows that all hard work, consistency, and prayer have produced results,” Nnadozie said in a short video posted on the Super Falcons X Handle.

“I am very happy about this, this is a moral amplifier. Continue to go, Chiamaka. Whatever you do, the world watching, never stops.

“Of course, this shows that we have many good goalkeepers in Africa. I want to encourage all African goalkeepers to keep working hard. One day, the sky will be your starting point.”

Goalkeeper Brighton & Hove Albion also played an important role in the Nigerian winning campaign in 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where Super Falcons claimed the 10th title extended by the record.

His star’s performance made him the goalkeeper of the tournament award after recording four clean sheets in six matches.
