Nigeria Govt. The collective bargaining committee of the health sector inaugurates

Abuja (basic reporter) today the Federal Government has formally inaugurated and convened the Committee on collective bargaining for the health sector, reporting the official start of negotiations with the main unions of the health sector, in line with articles 1 and 2 of the guidelines on the machines of collective bargaining agreements.

The coordinated minister of health and social well -being, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, who led the inauguration, said that this government’s effort was oriented to build a fair and sustainable picture for the workforce of the health sector.

“The convocation of this committee is a milestone for the construction of a fair and sustainable framework for our health workforce. Healthcare workers are fundamental in our mission to provide quality health care, and it is our duty to ensure that their needs are addressed with sincerity, transparency and mutual respect.”

The high -level inauguration ceremony, held in Abuja, today on Friday 15 August 2025, the honorable minister of work and employment, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Izia Salako, other dignitaries included high officials of the Office of the Government of the Federation (OSGF) the head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the national salaries, the national salaries, The income and the wage commission, the Federation’s budget office, among others.

The negotiations will involve commitments structured with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), the union of the joint health sector (Johesu) and the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (Nannm), among others, focusing on remuneration, working conditions, professional development and well -being of health workers.

In his observations, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, honorable minister of work and employment, underlined: “Collective bargaining is a path proven towards industrial peace and sectoral stability. Through this process, we intend to find common land that guarantee the well -being of our health workers while protecting access to the public in order not to interrupt health and health.

Dr. Iziaq Salako, Minister of the State for Health and Social Wellness, added: “This is a fundamental step in the wider health reform agenda. Listening to the items of our health professionals, we are not just negotiating the terms – we are modeling the future of health delivery in Nigeria.”

The Federal Government asks all parts of committing themselves in negotiations with good faith, a spirit of compromise and a shared dedication to advance the health and well -being of the Nigerians.
