Women’s AFCON: Super Falcon players complain about theft at Moroccan hotel

Nigeria’s Super Falcons players at the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup taking place in Morocco have complained that their money was stolen from their hotel rooms in Casablanca.

Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo opened up, alleging $700 was stolen from her wallet, and other teammates also experienced the same.

The AFC Toronto forward made the allegations in a series of posts on his Snapchat account, claiming that several of his teammates also had money stolen from their wallets while they were away from their rooms at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca.

Okoronkwo initially said $500 had been taken from his wallet before later correcting the amount after recalculating the money.

“This Marriott hotel in Casablanca just stole a lot of people’s money from their wallets! They just stole 500 USD from me!! They stole a few dollars from my teammates,” he initially wrote.

He later updated the numbers by saying, “Guys, I miscalculated. They actually stole $700, not $500 USD.”

The Super Falcons forward then accused a member of the hotel’s housekeeping staff of taking the money.

“The cleaning staff stole money. So they waited while we were not in the room to clean and stole the money,” he wrote.

Okoronkwo also claimed that the players confronted the hotel staff over the missing money but were unhappy with the response they received.

“We started talking to them and they didn’t have any answers. They also started being rude,” he added.

Nigeria, who are the record 10-time African champions, are seeking a record 11th WAFCON title.
