EFCC delivered N100m to FG, recovers the rifle, cartridges in the Benin Raid – Thaage

The commission for economic and financial crimes, on Friday, presented a draft N100 million recovered from the mining companies defaulting in the state of Akwa Ibom to the Federal Ministry for solid mineral development.

The Zonal Director Uyo of the FCC, ACE The Oshodi Johnson, made the presentation on behalf of the president of the agency, Ola Olukoyede, to the head of the federal mines responsible for Akwa Ibom, Emmanuel Effeiong Bassey.

Oshodi said that the funds were recovered by companies that failed to put the Royalties to the government back, underlining the commitment of the FCC for transparency and responsibility in recovering activities.

“We want the synergy between the federal ministries and the EFCC becomes stronger, especially in sharing information, so that we can get more with better strategic, operational and tactical cooperation.

This is just a tip of the iceberg; We will continue to recover every government Kobo hanging everywhere, “he said.

Bassey praised the rapid response of the FCC to a petition that triggered the investigation, describing the mining sector as fundamental for economic stability.

“Without this sector, the country struggles. The synergy must be deepened, and with this step, we hope it will arrive much more,” he said.

Oshodi also thanked the ministry for providing impossible intelligence that led to the recovery, ensuring that the commission would support the collaboration with the relevant agencies.

In the meantime, the agents of the Benin Directorate of the FCC have arrested 47 suspicions of the Internet scammers in the Edo state.

They were taken on Friday 15 August, following the credible intelligence that connects them to fraudulent activities.

A rifle for pump action and vive cartridges were recovered by a suspicion, together with six vehicles, cell phones and laptops.

The EFCC said that all suspicions would be accused in court in the event of investigations.
