Nigeria and Brazil deepened their bilateral ties with the signature of a memorandum of understanding (Mou) on cooperation in science, technology and innovation.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by the UCC head Geoffrey Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology of Nigeria, and Luciana Santos, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Brazil.
The signature was testified by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR of Nigeria and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, underlining the high -level commitment to advance science, technology and innovation (sti) as sustainable development engines.
The agreement provides for a collaboration in biotechnology and bioeconomics, ocean sciences, energy, research and development of space, digital transformation, ecosystems of innovation and development of raw materials.
It is based on previous cooperation paintings between the two nations while responding to new global challenges, including climate change, digital interruption and industrial transformation.
Speaking at the ceremony, the nnaji chief described the Mou as “a declaration of shared vision”, noting that it would open “new frontiers in biotechnology, energy, digital transformation, spatial research and development of raw materials”.

He underlined that, under the renewed agenda of the hope of President Tinubu, Nigeria considered Brazil not only as a partner but as “an ally of trust in the construction of innovation ecosystems that will benefit our peoples and the wider world”.
Both presidents greeted the signature as a milestone in the South Cooperation -Sud, with President Tinubu who highlighted Nigeria’s determination to exploit the technology for inclusive prosperity, while President Lula Da Silva defined the Mou “a partnership for the future”.
The agreement should unlock new opportunities for researchers, entrepreneurs, investors and young people in both countries, while strengthening global efforts to achieve sustainable development objectives (SDG).
This development marks a new era in Nigeria -Brazil reports, reflecting a shared determination to use innovation and technology as a driver of growth, work and sustainable progress.
