Japanese power plants produce electricity from salt water in

The future of renewable energy can be changed by Japanese innovative power plants, which use salt water to create electricity, according to development experts.

Using the concept of salinity gradient strength – Natural energy produced when fresh water and salt water – This project begins on coastal sites in Japan.

This facility uses the latest membrane and electrochemical engineering to change the variation of salt content into sustainable and clean electricity.

Considering that the ocean forms more than 70% of the earth’s surface, scientists have long considered salt water energy as a resource that has not been utilized.

Successful pilot factory in Japan was praised as a significant progress in proving technological scalability.

“This is not a science fiction. This is a real and renewable solution that can help the country reduce carbon emissions while utilizing abundant marine resources,” said a project researcher during the opening.

This initiative came when Japan accelerated its encouragement for carbon neutrality in 2050. This country, which is very dependent on fossil fuels imported since the Fukushima disaster in 2011, has invested in alternative energy solutions to diversify a mixture of power.
