The Minister of Federal Capital Region (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has greatly defended the behavior of the new regional government election completed in the state of Rivers, on the grounds that the election was held in the provisions of emergency rules and supported by constitutional authority.
Speaking during the media chat in Abuja on Monday, Wike rejected criticism from the former Vice President of Atiku Abubakar and the presidential candidate of the Labor Party, Peter Obi, described their statement as a political damage that was rooted in legal ignorance.
“Under emergency rules, certain aspects of the law are suspended to allow governance. The only administrator of the law on behalf of the President and funds is provided in accordance with the statement of the Supreme Court,” Wike explained.
The former Governor of Rivers believes that Atiku has no legal capacity to challenge the election, shows that the framework for such emergency forces was established almost two decades ago.
“What you don’t know, don’t comment. This is law, not a habit. Atiku has no knowledge,” Wike said sharply.

He also swiped Obi, who previously condemned the training as “madness.”
“Who could be more bastard than Obi? As a governor for eight years, he only made a selection two months before leaving the office. The doctor broke down for 13 months under him. He did not have the moral authority to give lectures to anyone about democracy,” Wike said.
Regarding the claim that the results of the election indicated that the alliance between the Democratic Party (PDP) of the people and the Congress of all Progressive (APC), Wike considers speculation to be irrelevant, instead emphasizing the peaceful nature of the election.
“Every election has its characteristics. What is important is that, for the first time in our history, we see a peaceful election – no shot, no piracy of ballot boxes, no kidnapping officers returned. If APC and PDP work together in Rivers, then Nigeria must praise us to achieve it,” he said.
