Obi demanded a national war on insecurity when the murder increased throughout the state

Former presidential candidate from the Labor Party (LP), Peter Obi, has asked the Federal government to declare “National War against a sense of insecurity,” warning that waves of murder and kidnapping that worsen have plunged Nigeria into a full -scale emergency.

Obi, who posted his reaction on X on Sunday, condemned weekend violence attacks throughout Borno, Sokoto, Katsina, and Edo stated that what reportedly killed more than 100 people.

“The murder of eight NSCDC officers, the abduction of a Chinese citizen in Edo, the abduction of passengers on Jalan Benin-Iyere-ooluku, and the massacre of five soldiers and 58 civilians in Borno is not an isolated tragedy. They are clear evidence that Nigeria in an emergency grip full of emergencies,” he.

Former Governor Anambra expressed his condolences to the grieving families while demanding fast justice for the perpetrators. He stressed that the scale of bloodshed in Nigeria now reflects the level of victims seen in war-touched countries.

He warned that continuing with “business as usual” would only deepen the crisis, urged the administration of the Tinubu Bola President to prioritize security above everything.

“Even foreign trips by government officials must be postponed until the situation is controlled. True leadership must be seen at home, personally coordinating the war against insecurity. Investors will not come to the war zone,” he warned.

Obi believes that overcoming insecurity requires a total mobilization of resources, institutions and nigerian countries. He also draws parallel with countries like Somalia and Libya, warning that uncontrolled violence can encourage Nigeria towards the same collapse.

He concluded with a request for urgent and brave leadership: “Time has come to restore safety and rebuild the nation.”
