Nigeria grumbled as the national network collapsed for the 3rd time in 2025

National Grid collapsed again on Wednesday to trigger reactions on social media.

Data obtained from the independent system operator (ISO) shows that the Megawatt (MW) produced fell from 2,917.83 MW to 1.5 MW between 11:00 am and 12 noon on Wednesday.

In a statement to its customers, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) said the loss of electricity in the system franchise area was caused by the loss of supply from the network at 11:23 am

“Please be told that the power outage currently experienced is due to the loss of supply from the national network at 11:23. Today, affects the supply of electricity throughout our franchise area.” Rest assured, we are working with relevant stakeholders to ensure that electricity is restored after the network is stable.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding,” Disco said.

As expected, the collapse has triggered a reaction, with many Nigerians lamenting the latest collapse that has made the country dark.

According to some users in X, national network failures will continue until national greed is handled

A user on X, Kish❄️ with the grip of @kishozzy, said: “The national grid will continue to fail until the national greed is handled.”

Another user, ℕakos with the grip @nakosfc stated that it was surprised that it took three months for the national network to collapse again.

“The fact that the national network collapsed again did not surprise me. What was more surprising was that it took more than three months to collapse again,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the recovery of the national network has begun.

In an update, Nigeria’s national grid wrote on X on Wednesday, that the grid restoration had begun.

It is said that Grid has recovered 495 total megawatt to Abuja (150 MW), Benin (40 MW), Eko (80 MW), Enugu (40 MW), Ibadan (50 MW), Ikeja (80 MW), Kano (35 MW) and Kaduna (25 MW), Whose, WHOSE, 35 MW) and KADUNA (25 MW), WHOSE, 35 MW) and KADUNA (25 MW) MW) and Kaduna (25 MW), Whose, 35 MW) and Kaduna (25 MW), Whose, 35 MW) and Kaduna (25 MW), Whosdo, 35 MW) and Kaduna (25 MW) Other Disk Zero MW when submitting a report.

The incident was the third this year.

Previously collapsed in February and May to throw many parts of the country into the blackout.
