The Olubadan-Designato, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, urged the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, to intensify his efforts to encourage unity and peace between traditional sovereigns through Yorubaland.
Ladoja made the call on Sunday as he hosted Ooni in his Bodija residence in Ibadan, in Oyo’s state.
Describing the Ifete Monarch as a “great uniform”, the former governor said that Ooni’s leadership style promoted harmony not only among the traditional sovereigns of Yoruba, but also within the wider Yoruba nation.
He also commissioned Mogajis (family members and compound garments) to Ibadan to emulate the Ooni guaranteeing peaceful coexistence within their sectors, underlining that from now on they would have been held responsible for the misconduct of their family members.
“My experience as a senator, governor and businessman is not enough to govern as Olubadan. I am ready to learn from the Oons of Ife, who spent 10 years on the throne and working with other traditional sovereigns for the progress of Yorubaland,” said Ladoja.
He also praised Ooni for his investments focused on youth, who according to him had created jobs and reduced the crime among young people.
In his observations, Oba Ogunwusi praised the wealth of political and commercial experience of Ladoja, describing it as a precious resource that would bring “unprecedented progress to Ibadanland”.
“We have made a long way together. Today is not an ordinary day because it coincides with the beginning of our isolation of the Olojo Festival, yet I have tried the ancestral permit to be here to show love and support. We must continue to gather around ourselves to guarantee the unit in Yorubaland. I wish him a long life and a peaceful kingdom,” said Ooni.
