CAF CC: Kwara United Push Asante Kotoko to the limit in the seven goals thriller

Kwara United Football Club upon his return to the continent lost by little against Asante Kotoko at the CAF Confederation Preliminary Round 1st Leg Tye played Sunday night at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana.

The party was up to expectations since both parties began with high intensity, creating opportunities and testing the defensive configurations of others. Asante Kotoko took the lead in the 18th minute through Emmanuel Antwi. Kwara United responded six minutes later when Johnmark Aule converted a Kabiru Muhammed cross to do it 1-1.

When the first half approached its end, a defensive confusion in the backline of Kwara United allowed Hubert Gyalu to restore Kotoko’s leadership in the 45th minute. The Harmony Boys showed great resistance, with Aule completing their orthopedic device in the detention time to send the game to the level of mid -time to 2–2.

The second half resumed with both teams by adopting new strategies. Only two minutes after the restart, Joseph Abler headed in a goal from a corner to put Kotoko in front. The hosts extended their advantage to 4–2 in the 69th minute after receiving a penalty, which Gyalu converted.

Kwara United reduced the deficit in the 87th minute when the Shola Abdulraheem substitute finished a Junior Aimufua pass after an impressive flank race, finishing the contest in an exciting marker 4–3.

Speaking after the game, coach Tunde Sanni, on behalf of the chief coach Godwin Onyewuchi Nonsike, expressed satisfaction with the performance and tactical discipline of the team, and added that they trust to cancel the result in the second section in Abeokuta.

Kwara’s governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, visited the team at her hotel after the game to congratulate her energetic performance and urged them to complete the work in Abeokuta and ensure a place in the second round.

The decisive return section is scheduled for Sunday at the Mko Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, where Kwara United will seek victory to progress to the next round of the competition.
