The former sixty -three nurse Sarah Mullally was appointed the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury.
Mullally is the first woman to lead the Church of England.
He was appointed on Friday as a global leader of the Anglican community.
The Church of England is the Mother Church of Global Anglicanism.
His appointment of a committee commissioned to find a successor by Justin Welby, who resigned at the beginning of this year for a scandal of abuses, was approved by King Charles III, said the government of the United Kingdom.

Mullally was ordained a priest in 2002 and became the first female bishop of London in 2018.
The church began to allow bishops women in 2014 after years of bitter faction.
Mullally recognized the “great responsibility” of his new role, but he said he feels a sense of “peace and trust in God to bring me”.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed the appointment of the first woman to play the role.

“The Church of England is of profound importance for this country. Its churches, cathedrals, schools and beneficial organizations are part of the fabric of our communities,” he said in a declaration, adding that the new archbishop “would play a key role in our national life”.
Welby resigned after a report discovered that the Church of England had covered a case of serial abuse of 1970 and that she was unable to report abuses to the authorities when they came to its attention in 2013.
The Anglican Church became the Church of State established after the separation of King Henry VIII by the Roman Catholic Church in 1530.
