PSC Releases Names of Selected Candidates as Police Officers – THIS

The Federal Government’s plan to recruit 50,000 officers into the Nigeria Police Force became a reality on Wednesday as the Police Service Commission, PSC, released the names of shortlisted candidates in the ongoing recruitment exercise.

The PSC on Wednesday announced that candidates who appeared in the recently concluded written exam will be able to check their employment status on the official recruitment portal, npfapplication.psc.gov.ngwhich will be activated at midnight on Thursday 16 July 2026.

According to the PSC, successful applicants will also receive notifications via the email addresses and phone numbers provided during the application process.

The commission said the release of the names follows the successful conclusion of a comprehensive and transparent recruitment exercise conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission, the Ministry of Police Affairs, the State Careers and Counseling Departments and the Police Community Relations Board.

He noted that the multi-agency approach was designed to ensure fairness, credibility and compliance with the federal character principle throughout the recruitment process.

The PSC has advised candidates who have passed the written exam to log on to the recruitment portal from Thursday to check whether they have passed the exam and follow the subsequent instructions issued by the Commission.

The PSC has disclosed that the selected candidates will, in due course, be informed of the dates, times and designated police training institutes at which they will have to report for documentation and medical examination before commencing the training.

He warned that candidates who fail to apply within the stipulated deadline will be deemed to have rejected the offer of office.

The Commission further said that candidates who fail the mandatory medical examination to be conducted by the police medical team at the time of resumption at their training institutes will be declared medically unfit and will not be allowed to continue with the programme.

According to the PSC, eligible candidates are required to come with training call slips, National Identification Number (NIN) slips, Bank Verification Number (BVN) slips, original and photocopies of their educational certificates as well as other documents and items as will be specified on the recruitment portal.

The Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Hashimu Salihu Argungu, thanked President Bola Tinubu for approving the recruitment exercise targeting 50,000 police officers, describing the initiative as a significant investment in Nigeria’s security architecture.

Argungu said the recruitment would help strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force at a time when the country continues to face complex security challenges requiring more manpower and improved policing.

He urged the successful candidates to view their selection as a clarion call for national service, stressing that they must serve the country with dignity, discipline, integrity and steadfast commitment.

According to him, the opportunity comes with enormous responsibility and the new arrivals must uphold the core values ​​of the Nigerian Police Force while contributing to efforts to safeguard lives and properties across Nigeria.
