Presidential reaction to Trump’s viral post criticizing Tinubu

The Presidency has reacted to a social media post purportedly showing US President Donald Trump criticizing Nigerian President Bola Tinubu over Monday’s bombings carried out by Boko Haram terrorists.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, dismissed the viral post as “fake”, and asked the public to ignore it.

The viral post claimed that Trump described the situation in Nigeria as a “TOTAL DISASTER” and criticized Tinubu for being abroad on a “State Visit” to the UK when the attacks, including a suicide bombing in Maiduguri, reportedly occurred.

The message urges immediate action to protect citizens and close borders, indicating that Tinubu is shirking his leadership duties.

But Dare urged people to verify information before sharing it, adding: “This post is not on the whitehouse.gov platform or any of President Donald Trump’s social media pages. Please verify before you post.”
