Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Communications Policy provides further explanation as to why President Bola Tinubu made his recent historic visit to the UK.
Responding to criticism that emerged following Tinubu’s visit to the UK, Bwala in a Facebook post on Friday stated that the president went to pave the way for more investments and opportunities for Nigerians.
Tinubu has embarked on a two-day state visit to the UK, where he received a show of soft power diplomacy from King Charles III of the UK.
But the visit prompted negative reactions from opposition figures, who questioned the importance of the move, especially considering the country’s current challenges.

But Bwala said, “Some people say, “Why go to England?” Look, I hope you all know that you cannot grow and develop Nigeria by just sitting at home and waiting.
“This visit is about opening doors: more investment, more jobs and more opportunities for our people. His Majesty, King Charles has demonstrated a practical commitment to partnering with Nigeria in areas of mutual trust.”
“President Tinubu ensures Nigeria is seen, heard and respected on the world stage.
“That’s how you move a country forward, not by standing still.”
