Navy rescues 7 people after shipwreck in Bayelsa – Latest Nigerian News

The Nigerian Navy has rescued seven people following a boat collision in the waters of Ogboinbiri, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of ​​Bayelsa State.

The Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Folorunsho said the rescue was carried out in a rapid search and rescue operation following a distress call over an incident involving the patrol boat Tantita and a timber market boat.

He said that personnel from the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH were immediately deployed to the scene of the incident, and succeeded in rescuing the victims.

According to him, the rescued people were immediately evacuated to the nearest medical facility for immediate attention, while efforts to find other missing people continued.

The spokesperson noted that the operation underscores its commitment to protecting life in Nigeria’s maritime environment.
