CAF has not yet concluded the investigation into the refereeing allegations in the AFCON final

CAF Acting Secretary General Samson Adamu confirmed that the body is still carrying out internal investigations into the allegations involving the CAF Referees Committee Chairman Oliver Safari.

Safari is alleged to have ordered the referee of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final to “preserve the match” by refraining from issuing yellow cards to the Senegalese players.

Adamu stated that the process is ongoing and stressed that no conclusion has been reached at this stage.

He noted that the CAF will only make a decision once the investigation has been fully concluded.

“As for the situation, CAF is following the process completely until it is completed, until then CAF will only focus on making sure that we follow the process until the end and there is nothing at all about making a decision until the end.”

The development has generated pressure in some quarters for Safari to be removed from his position.

Critics argue that the alleged directive given to Ndala was an attempt to influence the referees’ decisions during the final.
