Frank Onyeka put in an impressive performance and provided a crucial assist as Coventry City defeated Wrexham 3-1 in their final home game of the EFL Championship season.
Although Coventry had already secured the league title in their previous match, Sunday served as a trophy presentation.
The team celebrated the occasion in style with a convincing victory in front of their fans.
Onyeka capped a dominant individual display by assisting Ephron Mason-Clark’s goal in added time.
Moving forward with intent, Onyeka spotted Mason-Clark unmarked in the box and launched a perfectly weighted pass, which the forward emphatically converted to seal the 3-1 victory.
Earlier goals from Haji Wright Thomas-Asante and Victor Torp had already put Coventry in control.
Beyond the assistance, Onyeka’s comprehensive performance stood out. He completed 45 passes with 92% accuracy, created multiple chances and maintained a 100% dribbling success rate.
Defensively, he contributed three tackles, a block, an interception and three ball recoveries, in addition to winning nine duels, highlighting his influence on the field.
While it was a day of celebration for Coventry and Onyeka, the atmosphere was quite different for fellow Nigerian Arthur Okonkwo and Wrexham.
Manager Phil Parkinson opted to leave Okonkwo on the bench and continue with Danny Ward, who had kept a clean sheet in his previous two games.
Parkinson’s decision was influenced by recent defensive problems, with Okonkwo conceding seven goals in his last two appearances before being dropped.

Wrexham’s form has dipped at a critical stage of the season, suffering back-to-back defeats that have complicated their play-off hopes.
They currently occupy the last playoff spot with 70 points, but face increasing pressure from Hull City and Derby County, who are close behind with 70 and 69 points respectively.
Attention now turns to the final day of the season, where Wrexham will take on Middlesbrough.
It remains uncertain whether Parkinson will call up Okonkwo or stick with Ward as they fight to secure their playoff position.
