The NFF Elective Congress will now be held on September 27

This year’s Nigerian Football Federation Elective Congress, scheduled for Saturday, September 26 in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, has now been postponed by 24 hours.

The elective Congress will now take place on Sunday 27 September in the same city which will introduce the members of the NFF Executive Committee for the next four years.

At an extraordinary general meeting of the NFF held virtually on Wednesday, NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON, explained that the date change request was necessitated by the date indicated for the Super Eagles’ opening qualifying match for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, against Barea of ​​Madagascar.

Following interactions with the Confederation of African Football, the agreed date for the match is Friday 25 September 2026. Obviously, it will be highly impossible for a number of election candidates, who will be present at the match, to arrive in Lafia the following morning in time for the Elective Congress.

Gusau added that it is on the need to consider this situation that the NFF Executive Committee convened the extraordinary general meeting to present a proposal for the elective Congress to be held in Lafia, Nasarawa State on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

A member of Congress introduced a motion in line with the proposal, which was immediately seconded, sealing the new date.
