The NBBF announces May 16 as a tip for the Nigeria Men’s Premier Basketball League

The Nigeria Basketball Federation has announced a new date of May 12 to May 16, 2026 for the start of the 2026 Nigeria’s Men’s Premier Basketball League season, due to the approval of new teams by the LMC.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the NBBF, Mrs. Amina Amanchi. The highly anticipated elite men’s basketball championship is expected to feature 20 teams, split into the Atlantic and Savannah conferences.

He also disclosed that domestic transfers for teams in the league would attract One Hundred and Fifty Thousand (N150,000.00) and the distribution will be between the transferring club and the NBBF.

The teams participating in the Savannah conference are: Nigeria Customs Basketball Club of Abuja, Nile University Basketball Club, Abuja, Kano Pillars Basketball Club of Kano, Bauchi Nets Basketball Club of Bauchi, Plateau Peaks Basketball Club of Jos, Gboko City Chiefs Basketball Club of Benue, Gombe Bull Basketball Club of Gombe, Niger Potters Basketball Club of Minna, 313 Warriors Basketball Club and Aso Sky Hawks Basketball Club, Abuja.

Participating in the Atlantic conference will be Rivers Hoppers Basketball Club from Rivers State, Maktown Flyers Basketball Club, Benue, Comets Basketball Club from Lagos, Hoops and Reads Basketball Club from Lagos, Kwara Falcons Basketball club from Ilorin, Athletes For Peace Basketball Club from Rivers, Edo Beads Basketball Club from Benin, Raptors Basketball Club from Lagos, Coal City Blazers Basketball Club and the Confluence Kings Basketball Club in Kogi.
