Benue: Incumbents lose in National Assembly APC primary elections – THIS UPDATE

The Chairman of the National Primary Elections Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Mahuta Saidu, has released the results of the elections in Benue State, with most of the incumbents losing their bid for the return ticket.

During the ceremony at the APC Secretariat in Makurdi on Sunday, Alhaji Saidu, in Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency, Dr. Livinus Tsar polled 28,549 votes to defeat the incumbent, Sesoo Gboko Ikpagher, and 12 others, while David Nongo also polled 17,421 votes to defeat the incumbent, Arch Asema Achado, for Gwer/Gwer West Federal Constituency.

He further stated that the immediate past Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dr Peter Ogbodo, emerged as the candidate after polling 12,993 votes to defeat three other aspirants for Obi/Oju Federal Constituency, while Representative Solomon Wombo polled 64,274 votes to secure the return ticket for Ukum/Katsina-Ala and Logo Federal Constituency.

“For Apa/Agatu, Ojema Ojotu, with a score of 11,305, was elected again,” Saidu said.

Also, Christopher Ikper, after securing 37,844 votes, was declared the winner for Makurdi/Guma after defeating the incumbent, Dickson Tarkighir, with 1,746 votes; for Buruku federal constituency, Godwin Nyom defeated incumbent Sekav Iortyom with 1,396 votes.

At the time of writing, only the results for the Oturkpo/Ohimini federal constituency are awaited.
