Tems, Wizkid and Asake nominated for 2026 BET Awards


Nigerian music stars Tems, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Asake have been nominated for the 2026 BET Awards, reinforcing Nigeria’s strong presence on the international music scene.

The nominations were announced on BET.com, with Nigerian artists featured in several major music and international categories.

Tems recorded the highest recognition among African bands, earning three nominations: Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her Award for her song “First” and Viewers’ Choice Award for “Raindance,” her collaboration with Dave.

Wizkid and Asake were nominated in the Best Group category due to their recent collaboration and continued global impact in the music industry.

Burna Boy also secured a nomination in the Best Collaboration category for “WGFT,” his feature on the Gunna track.

The recognition highlights the growing influence of Nigerian artists on the global stage, as they continue to garner major nominations and awards internationally.

Previous Nigerian winners at the BET Awards include Davido, Tems, 2Baba, D’banj, Ice Prince and Ayra Starr, who won the 2025 Best International Act award.

The 2026 BET Awards ceremony is scheduled for June 28 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with comedian Druski hosting the event.

The awards celebrate excellence in Black entertainment in music, film and other creative industries around the world.
