Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has publicly supported President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, calling it a “moral and development-oriented” decision for Osun and the Yoruba people.

Speaking after inspecting works on the Ibadan-Ile Ife-Ilesa expressway on Monday, Adeleke said he had no hesitation in supporting Tinubu, who he described as “our son, father and leader”.

“As the governor of Mr. President’s ancestral birthplace, how can I have mine in the saddle and think twice before hugging him?” he asked.

Adeleke said the approval cuts across party lines and is rooted in the state’s federal infrastructure projects. He commended the speed and quality of work on the expressway and said it would improve access to major cities in Osun.

He added that his administration has rehabilitated several federal roads since 2022 and reconstructed more than 300 km of state roads, and is hoping for federal reimbursements for the repairs. He also commended Tinubu for approving the Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo and Gbongan-Akoda roads and pledged to seek approval for the Osogbo-Ilesa road.

In the August 15 election, Adeleke said his government would ensure free and fair elections, adding that “the president has repeatedly supported free and fair elections” and “had good intentions for Osun state.”
