APC, APM, 2 others to field candidates in Ondo South by-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Wednesday that four political parties will take part in the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election scheduled for June 20.

This was stated by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke at a stakeholders meeting held in Okitipupa.

The by-election in the senatorial district was called following the resignation of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who is now Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN.

Ondo South Senatorial District comprises Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje, Ese-Odo, Odigbo and Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Areas.

“Voters who have undergone the CVR process are not entitled to vote because the process is still ongoing, only voters with a valid PVC are entitled to vote in the by-election.

“The number of registered voters who voted in the six LGAs was 673,446 spread across 1,354 polling stations, 66 polling stations and 5,416 polling stations.

“We are fully prepared for the by-election as we will deploy 1,359 tested Bimodal Voter Accreditation Systems (BVAS) and 264 reserve BVAS as well as the INEC Results Display Portal (iReV).

“Logistics such as security, sensitive and non-sensitive materials, such as ballot papers, result sheets, Form EC8A, ballot boxes, voting booths, indelible ink, stamps and other materials are all intact,” Agboke said.
