Tunisia endured a difficult end to their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering a tough 5-0 defeat to Belgium in an international friendly on Friday.
The result extends the Carthage Eagles’ winless streak to three games, having recorded one draw and two losses prior to the tournament.
Belgium took control of the match through Leandro Trossard, who opened the scoring midway through the first half. Charles De Ketelaere doubled the lead eight minutes into the second half before Tunisia’s Ismael Gharbi was sent off just after the hour for a second booking.
The Red Devils took advantage of their numerical advantage as Kevin De Bruyne and Dodi Lukebakio added more goals, while Nicolas Raskin completed the rout.
Tunisia will now turn its attention to the World Cup, where it is drawn in Group F alongside Sweden, Japan and the Netherlands. The North Africans begin their campaign against Sweden on June 15 as they look to reach the knockout stage for the first time in their history.
