Aboh Mbaise’s Silversports Football Club will officially begin their campaign in the 2026 Imo State Football Association (FA) league when they take on Evermore Football Club in their opening match at the Dan Anyiam Stadium training ground, Owerri, on Tuesday morning.
Aboh Mbaise’s side will be aiming for a good start in the competition after being lined up alongside Chika FC and Madoka FC in a group that promises a competitive battle to qualify for the next stage.
The 2026 Imo FA League will feature 19 participating teams, with the clubs set to compete for the title in the state’s grassroots football championship.
The season will officially begin with Umuakuma United taking on Heroes FC by 9am at the same venue in the opening match of the season.
The schedule was unveiled during the official draws held at the Imo State Football Association boardroom, attended by representatives of participating clubs and football stakeholders.
FA President, Lawyer Ifeanyi Dike, assured teams of the association’s commitment to organizing a free, fair and transparent competition, promising equal opportunities to all participating clubs.
FA Vice President Silvester Obasi also expressed the association’s readiness to provide adequate coordination for a successful league season.
Earlier, the president of the organizing committee, Charles Nnadi, had outlined the guidelines governing the competition and instructed the clubs to abide by the rules and regulations of the league.
Also present at the event were Owerri Zonal Coordinator, Ekwutosi Nmeka, and Okigwe Zonal Chairman, Goddy Gbade, along with other football stakeholders.
With fixtures now confirmed, attention turns to the pitch as Silversports FC, Umuakuma United, Heroes FC and other participating teams begin their bid for glory in the 2026 Imo FA League.
