Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem will join Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor from Nantes, with the two clubs close to agreeing a deal worth around €1 million.
According to L’Equipe via Tribuna, the 28-year-old is expected to sign a two-year contract, with the option of a further year, once his medical is completed.
Awaziem returned to Nantes last summer after spells with FC Cincinnati and Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer. He made 26 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, scoring one goal and providing two assists, but was unable to prevent the French club from being relegated to Ligue 2.
The Nigerian international, who has earned 40 caps, remains part of Eric Chelle’s plans for the Super Eagles and will look to continue playing top-class football with his move to Konyaspor.
Awaziem is no stranger to Turkish football, having previously played for Rizespor and Alanyaspor during separate loan spells.
If the transfer is completed, he will become the latest Super Eagles player to move to Türkiye, following Kelechi Iheanacho’s recent move to Bursaspor.
