Zamfara Governor Lawal to corps members: Make significant contributions to your host communities

Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has urged members of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II of the National Youth Service Corps to use their year of service to positively impact their host communities through dedication, humility and community service.

The governor gave the charge on Wednesday at the closing ceremony of the three-week orientation course held at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, UBEC Training Centre, Gusau.

He was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sport, the Hon. Kasimu Sani Kaura.

Governor Lawal said the service year presents a unique opportunity to contribute to national development and the well-being of the communities to which they are posted.

“Even simple acts like teaching a child, helping someone learn a skill, supporting a community project, or introducing an idea that solves a problem can make your service meaningful,” the governor said.

He encouraged them to be hardworking, respectful and willing to learn, urging them to respect the culture and traditions of their host communities.

“Approach the remainder of your service year with dedication and determination to make a positive difference. You are ambassadors of unity and development,” he added.

Dr Lawal reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the welfare and safety of corps members serving in Zamfara.
