Flamingos head coach Akeem Busari has praised his team’s patience after Nigeria recorded a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso in the ongoing WAFU B Under-17 Women’s Cup. completesports.com information.
Busari’s team achieved its third consecutive victory in the competition on Monday, maintaining its perfect record with nine points from three games.
Nigeria dominated possession and created several chances early in the match, but struggled to break down a well-organized Burkinabé defense.
Mary Dunstan finally opened the scoring with eight minutes remaining, before Oluwakemi Adegbuyi sealed the victory in added time with Nigeria’s second goal.

Busari delighted with the victory
Speaking after the match, Busari explained that Burkina Faso’s defensive approach made it difficult for their players to find space and take advantage of their early opportunities.
“Burkina Faso was going to sit back and trust the tactics it wanted to use in the game. Coincidentally, we had chances, but we couldn’t take advantage of them in the first few minutes of the first half. That would have changed the game and the scoring margin of our chances,” Busari told the media.
“The tactics that Burkina Faso tried to use against us made the game difficult. We just had to be patient because we were up against young players.
“Some of the chances required them to play calmly, but in the end they wasted them. The chances were wasted and the tactics worked for the opponent until we got the difference by one goal.
“So they had to come out and now we could play.”
