OYEBANJI DISSOLVES THE COUNCILS AND CEASES THE APPOINTMENT OF POLITICAL OFFICERS

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals in the State, as well as the dismissal of all political appointees.

Those affected by the termination include special assistants, senior special assistants and technical assistants.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode, the decision became imperative in view of the phased conclusion of the Governor’s first term, ahead of the inauguration of his second term scheduled for October 16, 2026.

However, the presidents and members of the statutory bodies are not affected by the dissolution. These include the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), the Civil Service Commission, the House of Assembly Service Commission and the Judicial Service Commission.

Likewise, the governing boards of all state-owned tertiary institutions remain intact, in line with the Governor’s previous directives.

The chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the Local Government Service Commission and the Teaching Service Commission will remain in office, even if their respective boards are dissolved.

General Directors and Technical Advisors to the Governor are also exempt from termination of office.

Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the concerned appointees for their various contributions to the success of his administration and their service to the State. He wished them continued success in their future endeavors.
