Abuja (Core Reporters) The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has rehabilitated the 330 kV Kainji-Birnin Kebbi single circuit transmission line, which was mothballed following the collapse of Tower 367 on September 7, 2026.
TCN management said the line was restored at 5.24pm on Thursday 1 October 2026, following the erection of an Emergency Recovery System (ERS) tower at the tower’s location in Yauri.
According to management, the restoration work involved the dismantling and decommissioning of the collapsed tower, the alignment and preparation of the conductors and skywire, the construction of the ERS tower and the execution of other associated works necessary to restore the line safely.
“Our engineers worked around the clock to complete the works and bring the line back into service as quickly and safely as possible.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of electricity consumers in the affected areas throughout the outage and remain committed to maintaining a stable and reliable transmission grid.” The TCN management stated this.
