Nigeria’s first football club foundation consolidates achievements to increase employability, workplace readiness and behavioral outcomes

Enugu, Nigeria – 4 October 2026.

The Rangers International Football Club Foundation (RIFC Foundation), the first football club foundation in Nigeria, is proud to announce its advancement into the tertiary innovation phase of its ongoing SEL+Sports intervention framework through its flagship initiative “Beyond The Pitch Initiative” for students of Government Technical College (GTC) Enugu.

The progression, which began in this academic session, is designed to consolidate the gains, successes and measurable impacts recorded during the primary innovation phases with Year 1 and Year 2 students. The new phase focuses on improving employability skills, workplace readiness and crucial behavioral outcomes as students transition into career pathways.

In the expanded framework:

– Primary Innovation Phase – Year 1: Will continue for all newly admitted students, providing basic SEL, life skills, teamwork and mental well-being.

– Tertiary Innovation Phase – Years 2 and 3: Former Year 1 (now Year 2) students will advance alongside current Year 3 students into the Tertiary Phase, focusing on leadership, career development, resilience and community impact.

The Foundation also commends its strategic partner, Scientific Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB), Enugu, for its visionary leadership. The Board ensured that all students attended Social Emotional Learning (SEL) classes and the Sports Intervention Framework and formally integrated the Framework into the school calendar and timetable.

Speaking on this achievement, Chairman of the Rangers International Football Club Foundation, Manager Ebere Amaraizu, said:

> “This is more than just football. Beyond The Pitch is about building the whole child. We started with Year 1 to lay the foundations for life skills and mental wellbeing and the measurements have shown us real, measurable change. Now, moving into the tertiary innovation phase, we are consolidating this progress to ensure our young people at GTC Enugu are not only technically skilled, but emotionally intelligent, employable and workplace-ready. I am especially grateful to our partner, Science Technical Vocational School Management I recommend Enugu, for institutionalizing SEL in the school system. I am especially grateful to the leadership of Rangers International FC under Amobi Ezeaku Esq for helping to create the enabling platform for this life-changing endeavor. I also commend the Engagement and Impact Measurement team led by Dr. Johnbosco Chukwuorji, a clinical psychologist and member of the United States Government Alumni (Fulbright), for their commitment and ensuring that our impact is scientifically measured and credible at global level tool for education, mental health and youth development”.

The RIFC Foundation, through its Beyond The Pitch initiative, continues to foster innovation at the intersection of education, sport and youth development, using football as a vehicle for social-emotional learning and sustainable impact.
