Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation distributes football boots to 350 KKL players

Nigeria Super Eagles and Coventry City striker Taiwo Awoniyi has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the development of grassroots football with the distribution of football boots to 350 young players participating in the Kwara Kiddies League (KKL).

The initiative, facilitated through the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation (TAF), represents another significant investment in the future of young football talent in Kwara State and further reinforces Awoniyi’s growing reputation as a key player in the development of the round leather game in Nigeria.

The distribution ceremony, held on Saturday, received praise from the Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Mogaji, who praised the former Nottingham Forest striker for his passion, generosity and sustained commitment to nurturing the next generation of football stars.

Mogaji, who assisted in the distribution of the football boots, described Awoniyi as a progressive partner in the development of young footballers, noting that his contributions go beyond providing sports equipment and create opportunities for children to discover, develop and pursue their football dreams.

He highlighted that Kwara State needs more people who are willing to invest in grassroots sports and support the development of young talents, adding that Awoniyi’s interventions exemplify the kind of partnership needed to build a sustainable football development system.

The sports commission chairman also prayed for the striker’s continued success in the coming seasons, expressing optimism that his contributions would inspire other successful sports personalities to give back to their communities and invest in the future of Nigerian football.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony, the Chief Operating Officer of the Kwara Kiddies League, Ibrahim Jatto, expressed his deep gratitude to the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation on behalf of the league’s over 500 young players.

“On behalf of the over 500 young players of the Kwara Kiddies League, I sincerely thank the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation for their generous donation of football boots to our players,” Jatto said.

He noted that the foundation had consistently supported the league over the years by providing game kits, meals and cash rewards worth millions of naira to outstanding players.

According to him, the latest donation represents another significant boost to the dreams and development of children, many of whom aspire to build a career in professional football.

Jatto further explained that the league’s growing visibility, supported by its subscriptions to Wyscout and Eyeball, is helping to create greater opportunities for participating players to showcase their skills and attract the attention of a wider football audience.

“With increased visibility through our league subscriptions on Wyscout and Eyeball, your continued support is helping to create greater opportunities for these young talents,” he added.

He thanked the foundation for believing in young players and investing in their future, while expressing his personal gratitude for Awoniyi’s unwavering support for the league.

The ceremony was witnessed by Mrs Mary Awoniyi and Solomon Awoniyi, parents of the Coventry City striker, underscoring the family’s support for the initiative and their commitment to encouraging young people through sport.

Awoniyi, who serves as the President of the Kwara Kiddies League, has continued to distinguish himself through initiatives aimed at strengthening grassroots football and providing young players with the necessary resources and opportunities to realize their potential.

By distributing boots to 350 young players, the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to building a stronger foundation for youth football in Kwara State, while contributing to the wider ambition of discovering and developing the next generation of Nigerian football stars.
